To search for a word in legal texts

Use the function Search the corpus

  1. Enter a word in the entry field WORD, e.g. Verkehr

  2. Note:
    It is not possible to enter more than one word.
    The function is case-sensitive, i.e. no entry will be found for "verkehr"
  3. Select the language of the legal text in the drop-down menu LANGUAGE, e.g. deu for German.
  4. Select the number of entries to be displayed in the drop-down menu LIMIT HITS, e.g. 5.
  5. Select the legal system in the drop-down menu LEGAL SYSTEM, e.g. DE for Germany.
  6. Select the domain in the drop-down menu SUBFIELD, e.g. 2 Transport.

  7. Note: This selection is optional.
  8. Click on SEARCH

The legal texts in which the word appears will be displayed.

The structure of the display is as follows:

  1. Column 1: N: number of the entry in the list of results
  2. Column 2: bib infos: DETAILS is linked to the bibliographic data of the legal text
  3. Column 3: segment: the located word in the context of the legal text

  4. Note: The located word is marked in yellow.
  5. Column 4: key: location of word in the legal text, e.g. art 13.

    To search for multiple words in legal texts

    Use the function KWIC
    1. Enter multiple words in the entry field WORD, e.g. "Verkehr und Umwelt".

    2. Note: the funtion is case-sensitive.
    3. Select the language of the legal text in the drop-down menu LANGUAGE, e.g. deu for German.
    4. Select the number of context words to be displayed next to the located word using the drop-down menu show up to x context words, e.g. 5.
    5. Select the number of entries to be displayed using the drop-down menu show up to x hits, e.g. 10.
    6. Click on SHOW KWIC.
    7. For more information about a particular segment, click on DETAILS.

    8. This will open a new window providing further details about the legal text.
      The links and/or *doc in www are shown on the bottom line.
      5 *doc in cache: The legal text forms part of the corpus.
        Click on it to display the text.
        Note: A password is necessary to access the text.
      6 *doc in www: The legal text can be found in the internet.
        Click on it to search for the text in Google.
